Bill Frisell: Harmony featuring Petra Haden, Hank Roberts & Luke Bergman 9.15.17 @  8pm

Revered guitarist, composer, GRAMMY winner and two-time nominee Bill Frisell is “the most innovative and influential jazz guitarist of the past 25 years” (Wall Street Journal). With over 250 recordings (including over 40 of his own), Bill is a featured special guest on new albums by Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Charles Lloyd, and Allen Toussaint’s final recording. A feature film and behind-the-music profile, entitled Bill Frisell, A Portrait , premiered at SxSW in March 2017.

JOHN BEASLEY presents MONK’estra 10.11.17 @ 7:30pm

Grammy-nominated musician John Beasley presents MONK’estra, a smashing 15-piece big band project that captures the spirit of Thelonious Monk’s singular music–the off-beat melodies and humor, the strange beauty and unbounded swing–in fresh arrangements flavored with New Orleans spirit, hip-hop, Afro-Cuban rhythms and atmospheric colors.

Lea DeLaria 11.16.17 @ 7:30pm

She plays the hilarious, notorious ‘Big Boo’ in the hit series Orange is the New Black, but to jazz fans, Lea DeLaria is known as a musician first and foremost. Her sixth record, House Of David: delaria+bowie=jazz, is a loving tribute to David Bowie, released in 2015 to critical acclaim. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Chicago Symphony, the Hollywood Bowl, The Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House. DeLaria has five records to her name, dozens of film and television credits and awards, and her book, Lea’s Book of Rules for the World, is in its third printing.

An Evening with Branford Marsalis Quartet 3.23.18 @ 8pm

Branford Marsalis: musician, composer, bandleader, educator, legend–a 21st Century mainstay of artistic excellence. Known for the telepathic communication among its uncommonly consistent personnel, its deep book of original music replete with expressive melodies and provocative forms, and an unrivaled spirit in both live and recorded performances, the Branford Marsalis Quartet has long been recognized as the standard to which other ensembles of its kind must be measured.
